radical queer ecology
Hi everyone,
My name’s Kes, I’m an author, ecologist and community organiser and this is my queer ecology substack 🩷
If you’re looking for my general newsletter, Margins and Murmurations, it’s here!
For the last two years I’ve been hard at work on a writing project - my first full non-fiction book - which is coming together and keeping me up at night. I’m in love and I’m impatient so I created this blog.
What is it?
Radical Queer Ecology (formerly Pink and Green) is a selection of short pieces from the upcoming book exploring, for example, queer liberation, environmental defence and learning from our ecosystems. I have a feeling this project might also grow into its own little thing and I’m dreaming of all the possibilities.
Will there be more guest posts and cross-pollination? Will there be pdf newsletters with practical stuff for people to print out and distribute at their local community centre? Will we find new ways together to make these important subjects accessible to more people outside of academia or activist bubbles?
Let’s find out…
Who am I?
I’ve been running workshops and giving keynotes on subjects such as queer ecology and nature connection for years and these subjects have been a central part of my novels as well. I’ve been engaged in activism of one kind or another since the 90s, focusing particularly on the intersections of class, queerness and environmental defence as well as growing radical alternatives to the oppressions of capitalism.
radical queer ecology is written by speculative fiction author and queer ecologist, Kes Otter Lieffe (https://otterlieffe.com/) It is a foreshadowing of an upcoming book on queer liberation, environmental defence and learning from our ecosystems.
